The Deep Space mix series is an ongoing project in which I select some of my favourite ambient, downtempo, dub techno, IDM, whatever-as-long-as-it’s-deep music. I think that’s probably the best way to describe it! You can grab all of the mixes from Beatplexity, where they are now archived. The latest ones are usually on my Official.fm page for a while. Founded in 1988 by Alex Paterson and KLF member Jimmy Cauty, The Orb began as ambient and dub DJs in London. Its early performances were inspired by ambient and electronic artists of the 1970s and 1980s, most notably Brian Eno and Kraftwerk. Because of its trippy sound, the Orb developed a cult following among clubbers “coming down” from drug-induced highs
